This 7.5x5.5 inches journal is made of genuine cowhide leather and Inamalong fabric hand-woven by the Iranun. The Iranun, “people of the lake”, are among the 11 ethnic Muslim groups in the Philippines. Inamalong is an iteration of traditional Inaul malong or tube-skirt fabric worn in many parts of Mindanao. This particular fabric was handmade by the Iranun Weaving Center, which is fully operated by Iranun weavers and is the only 100% cotton Inaul and Inamalong Weaving Center in the world. To create this one-of-a-kind design, the weavers used a single complementary weft weaving technique on a bi-pedal loom.
This journal’s leather spine was hand-punched, then hand-sewn with strong thread using traditional long stitch binding. The paper is 85 gsm, acid-free blank, ivory-colored sheets made of pure ECF (elemental chlorine free) ecological pulp that is versatile and can take fountain pen ink and light watercolor.
Packaging
The journal will arrive wrapped in honeycomb paper inside a kraft mailer box.
